Two decades in the trenches.
Dr. Lee Mangold, CISSP
Chief Security Consultant, Mangold Security
Dr. Lee Mangold has spent more than twenty years building, breaking, and defending information systems — as an executive, an engineer, a teacher, and a consultant to hundreds of organizations across the globe. His work spans Fortune enterprises, high-growth startups, and fifteen years as a US defense contractor supporting classified and unclassified operations for multiple federal agencies.
Lee holds a doctorate in the field and the CISSP certification. He is currently the CISO of Fortress Information Security, an adjunct faculty member at the University of Central Florida, and a co-founder and board director of the Florida Cyber Alliance — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on cybersecurity education and community development.
Beyond direct consulting, Lee is the founder of OpenGRC — a governance, risk, and compliance platform built for small and mid-sized businesses that have been priced out of enterprise GRC tooling. He speaks regularly at industry conferences on AI, supply-chain risk, and the practical realities of running a security program.
The through-line: cybersecurity is hard, but it doesn’t have to be impossible — and it shouldn’t cost a fortune.
We measure ourselves by whether your program is demonstrably better when we leave.
That’s not a tagline — it’s the delivery standard. Reports without outcomes are paperweights. Our engagements are scoped so the value is visible, the risk reduction is defensible, and the handoff leaves your team stronger than it started.
